TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - It appears cornerback Mario Edwards is headed back to Florida.

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Edwards, a starter for the Dallas Cowboys over the last three years, has agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Edwards, 28, starred at Florida State, helping the Seminoles win a national championship in 1999 before he was selected in the sixth round by Dallas.

After playing primarily on special teams as a rookie, Edwards became the Cowboys starting left cornerback in 2001 and stayed there for two years before switching to right cornerback. He had 45 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown last season.

However, despite starting 47 games at cornerback, Edwards may be used at nickel back by Tampa Bay, which has Ronde Barber and Brian Kelly at the cornerback spots.

The Cowboys may move Pete Hunter, the team's starting nickel back last year, to right cornerback to start opposite Terence Newman.
